Must have laffs.

Just filed my mom's taxes after a lengthy (and possibly unnecessary) conversation with someone who must have felt like I'd never done taxes before. Yeah, I know how to check the box for "single." I don't have to be talked line by line by line. That's what the instruction book is for, IF I have a question.

Anyway - taxes are done, they've been e-filed, and the voucher has to be printed for the check to be mailed. After this, we needed a laugh.

So we headed for the LOLcats.

This pic cracked me up so much!

I love my son...

Photobucket

It is so hard to believe this picture, lovingly referred to as "kungfu baby," was taken close to two and a half years ago.
I hadn't logged into my photobucket account in quite some time. I had honestly forgotten what pictures were in there!

Help me help fight Alzheimer's!

Head on over to my donation page for this Saturday's Memory Walk!

I just joined my sister's team, Deaconess Home Health & Hospice, in the fight against Alzheimer's Disease.

In 2004, I realized our uncle had lost his fight against Alzheimer's. It was the most painful moment for me pertaining to family. He was trapped in a body that was working against him, and he had no clue what was going on, where he was, or who we were. I know that in those last months, if he'd been himself, some of the things he said and did would've never happened.

I want to help someone else to not have to go through that.

Help me help someone else!

Thanks!

I'm kind of excited about this.

I'm pretty excited about this new channel! It's been forever since I watched "The Wonder Years" or "Doogie Howser, MD." I had seen an ad as I was going through the channels on our DirecTV saying "DiscoveryKids is now HUB" so I just had to check it out. I'm looking forward to this! It appears to be a lot of the shows my hubby and I watched with our parents when we were kids. Not only can we share the memories we had as kids, we can introduce them to our precious son, and I'm confident that they are providing quality entertainment without questionable or "off-limits" programming.

And then we went to Hooter's...

My first trip to Hooter's: not that impressed with the food, but the clothes were ok. I was pretty impressed with our waitress: Sabrina. She graduated in May with a degree in Elementary Education and has also been working at this Hooter's for eight years. I don't know how she puts up with some of the customers. I really thought I was going to get to see her slap a guy last night, and she wasn't the only one! A couple of the other girls that work there were getting pretty aggravated as well. Anyway, on to the food!
The chicken strip appetizer was pretty flavorful. BUT - flavorful doesn't matter if I can't chew it! The strips were dry and tough. My Cobb salad was made with the same strips, so I had a bit of a time with it as well. The salad was pretty good though, even though I can pick up the same dressing at Mak's in Eastabuchie. Hubby, on the other hand, had the "Smothered Chicken Sandwich." That thing was HUGE! A grilled chicken breast, covered with green bell pepper and provolone cheese on a big sesame seed bun with tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles on the side. I was stuffed by the time I finished my salad, and hubby still had half a sandwich. Needless to say, the leftover half sandwich got brought home. It was pretty good even the next day. I thought it was pretty funny that the hubby was eating chicken breast at Hooter's. Just sayin...

Salt and Sand: Good for what ails you!

We went down to the coast yesterday...I realized that the beach environment did some good things for my body and soul. My aching and "crispy" feet were soothed by the beautiful and warm Gulf Coast sand: nature's exfoliant! The still warm coastal breeze and moist salty air did wonders for my dry sinuses, too.
It was good for the soul in that I haven't walked the beach picking up shells and driftwood in quite some time. I find spending time by the water, no matter where, soothing and mind-clearing. I found some beautiful treasures that will be converted into jewelry and decorations and sold on etsy soon.

Lunch at Oscar's

Lunch at Oscar's

We had lunch at Oscar's Mexican Grille & Cantina in Hattiesburg today. Service was great. We also met one of the owners, Tammy, during our visit. Oscar's has gift certificates available on restaurant.com, one of which we had purchased prior to our stop today. A $25 gift certificate for $2?? Yes, please! A snapshot of my lunch is posted here. I had an appetizer for my main course: the "fiesta sampler" ($8.95 as of today) w/ a side of rice and beans. It comes w/ three flautas, 2 quesadillas, and 2 small chimis. The complimentary chips (amazingly seasoned and crispy) and salsa (not too hot, but zestier than most in the area!) were perfect. The cheese dip is pretty good flavor-wise, but a little thinner than I like it. When my appetizer arrived, I realized how much food I'd ordered. i could only eat half of it! THE BEST sweet tea I've had at a Mexican restaurant. Now, i get to talk about the best part: dessert. No flan on the menu, but they have cheesecake! simply: amazing! perfectly cooked, beautiful crust, and that perfect shade of cheesecake tan.
